Leavenworth State Fishing Lake

I started fishing at Leavenworth Lake a few weeks ago and had mixed success.  A few Largemouth Bass, lots of "shell crackers", and about as many bluegill and crappie.  Good for a fun day of fishing, but I wanted to hook into a big ol' Largemouth.  I caught a 3 pounder on the ponds on Fort Leavenworth and wanted to improve.

My neighbor and I got up at 0500 hours and arrived at the lake at 0600 - just as the sun was coming up.  We brought the sea kayaks since we are still waiting on spouse approval on the Bass Boat.  His not mine.

A good day, Rob caught nine from the yellow kayak, and I did about average....  Well, if you call a big un average.  One of the three Largemouths is shown below.   Biggest fish of the day.  Even had Rob (a baitcaster bass man) impressed.
