I started fly fishing for bass and other non-trout fish when I moved to Kansas a few summers ago. Didn't know a whole lot about it, but there are a couple of nice ponds on Fort Leavenworth. They contain a mixture of Bass, Perch, Blue Gill, and Catfish. Some are stocked and some are wild.

I've spent the last few weeks exploring and experimenting with different flies and techniques to see what I can catch. So far I've caught everything. That's right. I even caught a couple of Catfish and one Bass over 4 lbs.

I caught three 12 inch Catfish the first day I fished the ponds. I thought they were just a fluke since they were relatively small, but then I caught the monster (to me anyway) below using a 7 wt rod and a strange Muddler variation that I tied. More on that later. Take a look at the fish!
