Heidelberg Special Report
Great news for everyone in and around the Heidelberg,
Germany area.
What? Well, there is a great group of local
national fly fishers that meets the third Friday of each month. Not only are they fun to
be around and provide interesting events, but they are more than happy to provide
information on fly fishing in the local area. You can contact them thru Mr. Nico Dienst via email, or by writing:

Tell me some more! Well, if you live in the
Heidelberg area, and are frustrated by the lack of readily accessible fly water, you may
be in luck! The Resevior des Cigognes (Stork Lake) is located just one hour south in
France near Seltz. No license required, but you have to pay 24 EURO for a day ticket on this
well maintained private preserve. Rainbows and more! Check out the webpage at http://perso.wanadoo.fr/claude.behr/
To get to the Resevior des Cigognes, take Autobahn 5 south to the Baden-Baden exit (south
of Karsrulhe) and head west - not towards Baden-Baden. Once you cross the border, turn
right at the first intersection towards Beinheim. Keep heading north! Pass through
Beinheim and on towards Seltz. Just before reaching the Seltz city limits, you turn right
on to a small country road (marked with camping and other types of activities). Buy the
day pass at the small restaurant on the left. Fishing waters are behind the restaurant.
Enjoy!
The Stuttgart Rod & Gun Club has the fishing rights for a 4.8 km stretch of
the Nagold near Neuweiler Gaugenwald . The R&GC also accepts local nationals
as Affiliate Members. It costs 40 EURO for the German club membership and
17,60 EURO for a day ticket. A very nice place at low cost. A local
guesthouse charges 30 EURO for an overnight stay incl. breakfast.
